Pakistan lead the three-match series 1-0 after their convincing 138-run win in the first match, and have a great chance to win the series in today's match. As captain Younus Khan has pointed out, it would be their first series win in over a year.

Under Younus Pakistan have lost this year against Australia and Sri Lanka (away). Their last one-day series win was against the West Indies, a 3-0 victory in Abu Dhabi in November last year.

Since then Pakistan lost a home series to Sri Lanka in January -- which led to Younus taking over as captain from Shoaib Malik.

And although the eventual victory margin in the last match was large, Pakistan were in trouble at the start of the innings, losing two wickets with no runs on the board.
New Zealand will be hoping to repeat their good start, but not the rest of the skills they displayed in the first ODI. Their bowlers conceded 107 runs in the final 10 overs of the innings - which is something Vettori will have to address quickly.

Pacemen Kyle Mills and James Franklin -- who both missed the first match because of injuries -- practised with the team on Thursday and Vettori hoped they would be available for selection.

New Zealand would ideally like to restrict Pakistan to not more than 230-240, and then apply themselves while batting.

For Pakistan Afridi has emerged as a high class all-rounder and his spin partnership with Saeed Ajmal is crucial. But New Zealand have handled Ajmal well in the Champions Trophy, and will be looking to repeat that if they want to stay alive in the series.
